CogniVis WhatsApp Bot allows you to create a chatbot that can be added to a WhatsApp group and answer questions asked by the group members, basing its answers on the sources you configured for your Assistant, using our Connectors (e.g. Google Drive, Dropbox, Website, etc).


Mutliple Bots
You can use different Assistants for different groups or specified
phone numbers of asking users.
For example, you can create a:
- Bot with public knowledge about your products, and publish it in a public "helpdesk" group for your customers
- Bot with internal knowledge of your organization procedures, and publish it in a private "onboarding" group for your employees
Multiple Assistants
Provide the same Bot with multiple Assistants specialized in different topics,
or formatting their answers in different ways.
For example, you can create a:
- Assistant specialized in events - its knowledge narrowed down to your calendar, that will always answer with event date and a link to registration.
- Assistant specialized in news - its knowledge narrowed down to specific news websites, that will always answer with a concise news summary.
Call the Assistants you need by their name, for example:

Whitelists for DMs
You can restrict the access to your Bot via Direct Messages (DMs) to specific phone numbers. That way, you can create a Bot that will only answer to people you trust.
- Make sure the Bot won't answer to unverified users, even if they somehow obtain its number.
- Use different Bots for different users, even when they text the same WhatsApp number.
Automations
You can set up automated messages that will be sent by your Bot based on the sources you configured for your Assistant.
For example, you can create a:
- Automated announcements of upcoming events, that will be sent to your customers every month.
- Automated reports from Google Search Console, that will be sent to your SEO team every morning.

Bot vs Assistant - what's the difference?
A Bot is a chatbot that can be used in a Group and/or via DMs for a specified list of numbers. An Assistant is a persona, with access to selected sources, tools (i.e. internet search), and custom instructions for providing answers. Each Bot has a default Assistant that powers it and it can also use other Assistants you select.
Can I limit data sources for a Bot?
Yes, the sources of information for a Bot in a Group are limited by the Assistant you choose to power the Bot. You can create an Assistant with access only to specific Connectors and use it as a default Assistant for a Bot in a Group.
Can I use the same Bot in multiple Groups?
Yes, you can use the same Bot in multiple Groups. You can also use different Bots for different Groups, or even different Bots for different users texting the same WhatsApp number.
Can I limit which Assistants a specific Bot can access?
Yes, you can select which Assistants are available to a Bot. You can create multiple Assistants, choose which one is the default for a Bot, and also allow the Bot to use other Assistants you select.
Can I use multiple Bots in the same Group?
Generally no. You can use a single Bot per Group, and specify a single Bot accessible via DMs for a specific user / bunch of users. However, you can use different Assistants with the same Bot, effectively creating multiple specialized “helpers” with different sets of knowledge and behavior. Also, we can implement multiple Bots per Group/Number within the Elevate plan on request.
Can I use multiple Assistants in the same Group?
Yes! You can use multiple Assistants within a single Bot. Each Bot has a default Assistant that powers it and it can also use other Assistants you select. The users can call the Assistant they need by their names to get the specialized help.
Can I use the same Bot for both Groups and DMs?
Yes, you can use the same Bot for both Groups and DMs. You can also use different Bots for different Groups or DMs.
Do I need a WhatsApp Business account?
Generally no. CogniVis WhatsApp Bot works with regular WhatsApp accounts and groups. However, if you expect very high traffic on your Bot, you may need a Business account, and the Group functionality may be limited.
Will the Bot use my phone number?
No, the Bot will use a separate phone number provided by CogniVis. You can use this number to add the Bot to your Groups and/or share it with your users for DMs.
Will the Bot see my message history?
No, the Bot will not see your message history. For privacy reasons, the Bot will only see the contents of the messages it was explicitly mentioned in, and messages sent to it via DMs. Apart from that the Bot will have access to the sources you configured for your Assistant via Connectors.
