Introduction

What is Teams?

Microsoft Teams is a collaboration platform that combines chat, video meetings, file storage, and application integration. This enables you to easily create AI chatbot assistants (internal), custom generators and even embeddable AI chat widgets trained on your data.

How CogniVis AI works with Teams?

The Microsoft Teams Connector integrates seamlessly with your Teams environment, providing access to key communication and collaboration data for enhanced tracking and insights.

What exact sources are pulled:

  • Channel ID
  • Channel members (only for public channels)
  • Channel type (Public/Private status)
  • Messages
  • Message content (only in channels with permission)
  • Sender name

Configuration

Generate IDs, client secret value, and add permissions.

Sign In

Sign into your azure portal account.

Generate Application and Directory ID

Navigate to App Registrations.

Press New registrations button.

Title it Cognivis Teams Connector or something similar, leave the remaining settings as they are, and then press Register.

In the overview tab under Essentials you will see the Application ID and Directory ID. Copy them for later.

Generate Client Secret Value

Go to Certificates & secrets and press + New client secret button.

Provide a description, set the expiry to 24 months, and click Add.

Copy the client secret value and save it for later.

Add permissions

Go to API permissions and press + Add a permission button.

Select Microsoft Graph and then Application permissions.

Find the Team permission group and check the box for Team.ReadBasic.All.

Find the TeamsSettings permission group and check the box for TeamSettings.ReadWrite.All.

Find the Channel permission group and check the box for Channel.ReadBasic.All.

Find the ChannelSettings permission group and check the box for ChannelSettings.ReadWrite.All.

Find the ChannelMessage permission group and check the box for ChannelMessage.Read.All.

Find the ChannelMember permission group and check the box for ChannelMember.Read.All.

After that, press the Add permissions button.

Finally, press Grant admin consent for "Organization name" button and hit Confirm.

Add the connector to CogniVis

Navigate to CogniVis Connectors

In your platform, go to the Admin Panel, which you can find in the top right corner of the screen.

Go to the Add Connector section in the menu on the left side of the screen.

Then, search for and select the Teams connector.

Add the generated values

Paste the previously copied Application (client) ID, Directory (tenant) ID, and Client Secret Value.

Define access

Clarify whether the documents should be made public, and if you wish, select specific teams for indexing, and then press CONNECT.
